Your rather deep exploration here is a delightful read. The simplicity of the illustrations is perfect, as well — minimalist, to keep the concept to the fore. It tickles me, too, that you’re also in the tech world, where I don’t generally expect to encounter this kind of depth. Will have to do some rewiring of those dusty opinions. 😆

While this exploration takes place largely within the realm of mind — the area of the maps — deeper territory also exists, which some have obviously (to me) explored to arrive at these delightful perspectives. Just to be able to speak of it, I call that deeper territory Heart, access point to the core of our inner being, which is not solely reliant on mind.

I like the way you’re willing to take a new perspective on older discoveries, which aren’t easy to comprehend via today’s typical mindset(s). There may, indeed, be more depth there than we have yet plumbed. We do ourselves no favor to just write them off as perhaps more primitive or mystical, or simply ignorant, as some do. This comes from a rather mechanistic Belief System that views that past as somehow less, the future as better, & the present as in between. Our beliefs around both time & consciousness need a good deal of reassessment, not necessarily just from the mental sphere.

It is as we delve deeper — into awareness/consciousness — that we have access to the actual territory, poorly described by the maps of language & thought, which are necessarily both linear & dualistic. The whole right/wrong, good/bad duality is highly questionable, being far too simplistic to plumb the depths of being.

What if there’s another perspective available on the whole cause/effect thing? What if what we perceive as external, as you say, is actually but an internal representation of that? To go further, what if what seems to be “out there” is the realm of effect, rather than cause? What if all cause arises from within — from awareness on all of its vast layers or levels?

Mind is ever in a hurry, seldom content to abide in the NowHere of present-moment awareness. What is NowHere to awareness is generally seen as nowhere to mind, ever distracted into visiting past & future. What of the present moment is the gateway into those deeper aspects of being? Could this underlie the many ancient & modern movements exploring things like meditation?

What is experienced in the actual territory, when the maps are laid to the side, being recognized as but tools useful for certain things, but not this? What if this direct experience is not amenable to conveyance by any sort of maps? What if it is only expressible, understandable to another deep explorer of those realms?

I suggest it takes walking a mile (or more) in the other one’s shoes. What we take for understanding in today’s world is entirely map reliant — superficial, at best. Yet, when one like you writes such a story, the deeper undercurrent of meaning is there, the deeper journey is available.

There is, indeed, a Oneness underlying all things in manifestation, not accessible to mind or maps, which can only point the way into That. It is awesome, “magical,” mystical — just words to say completely “other” than what mind takes to be real, within its own limited realm.
